5th Annual Parker Bash – Saturday July 26th, 2008

5/20 - I need $10 per canoe for your deposit  - Time to commit people; we have a list at the bottom of this page for those who have confirmed.  Please let me know either way so I can begin working out the logistics and arrangements.

5/29 - Friday and Saturday will be the main nights to stay up there.  I'll be there from Wed-Mon.  Feel free to come and go as you please just remember that Saturday is the Canoe Trip.

Cabrewing!  This year we are going to change things up a bit.  We are going cabrewing (canoing with lots-o-beer).  That's right, canoing with keg(s) on the Ausable river.  My father has a cabin in Saint Helen where we can all pitch tents and chill for the weekend.  There are a couple of grills and a kick ass smoker for us to cook on, a cave man television (aka fire pit) and plenty of space for a dozen tents.  If the response is good and I think we need more space I have some other options.

For those who are able to make it this year, it will be one to remember. For those who can't, who cares, you're obviously not one of the cool kidz and we don't want you there.

You will need to contact me for the address.

UPDATE 3/7: Let me know when you confirm if I can list you (short or nicknames only) at the bottom of the page as attending.  Also, if you want that to link to anything like a myspace or facebook I can do that too.

We should be able to pile about 30 people or so around the yard, in the house and in the popup.  The Au Sable River  is about 20 minutes to the north, we may head out from Grayling but I have to check around first on rates and times.

I've checked and confirmed that full kegs do indeed float but just to be safe we should give them hell before heading out.  We'll have to pile into as few cars as possible to minimize our drivers.  Luckily there are always a few with child or on probation that can't drink (i'll make sure they get invited).

UPDATE 3/11 - Questions so far:

What will I need to bring? Assuming you are sleeping over either Friday or Saturday or both you'll want a tent and sh!t for camping.  A cooler with stuff to share is nice.  This is a little town so you can always run out and grab stuff once you're up there.  You will also want to bring some stuff for canoing, think suits and other wetwear, you will get wet, prepare for anything and everything to be dumped in the river (just in case).

Will there be a pig roast?  We are looking into this option, it can cost a few hundred bucks but depending on how many people show I may do it.

5/29 - Will Gringo Dujour be there? No live music unless we can get Mr. Simpson to bust out his ax and sing to us.

Can I bring the Dogg?  I'd rather you didn't, it's not that big a lot and until i know how many people and more details I'm going to default to no.

Can I bring the Kid(s)?  No, this will not be a kid friendly environment, as a matter of fact, it's not a liver friendly event either.

Can I tow my own trailer or camper up?  Hellz Yeah!  I don't know where we'll put them but we'll make room for those of you who camp in stiz-nile.

5/19 - Can I bring my own kayak, raft, dingy, watter wings, etc?  Probably but don't be a pain in my ass and complicate things.

[it takes about 2.5 hours to make this drive - we are about 4 miles off of I-75]cabrew here!
